At first it seems rather preposterous – an Olek show without the token camouflage yarn? Isn’t that a contradiction in terms?

The mysterious placement was definitely no accident; there was an ulterior motive. One that involves the rather unlikely return of the Polish-born artist to the Lower East Side.

And wouldn’t you know it. Just outside Arlene’s Grocery on Stanton Street is the latest Hanksy wheat-paste concoction, timed perfectly to coincide with his gallery exhibition at the end of the week.

As if we needed further affirmation of the gallery district that has become the Lower East Side, W magazine has a sprawling writeup on the whole scene, bringing it mainstream. The prose is more a proclamation that Chelsea now has a run for its money.
