Something is definitely amiss at the newish JC Hibachi on upper Orchard Street. Their security gates remain drawn during peak hours, and we can’t reach anyone for more information. There are no signs or announcements near the entrance, and the phone rings ad nauseum with no pickup.

Meet JC Hibachi, the new eatery coming soon to 198A Orchard Street, formerly occupied by Open the Sesame noodle bar. Over the weekend, two laborers were busy on ladders and wooden scaffolding, installing a distinct new nameplate to the rectangular marquee.
