The Sperone Westwater Gallery is the proverbial new kid on the Bowery block, and the immediate neighbor to the north has qualms with the Ikea-like eyesore.

After news broke yesterday about the departure of York’s Shona Gallery from 1 Prince Street, another upper Bowery vacancy is currently in the works. Indeed, it didn’t take too long for the leasing signs to appear at 259 Bowery in the wake of the Sperone Westwater Gallery inauguration last month.
