Five months ago, blockbuster news dropped that REI was planning to open its first city location inside the landmarked Puck Building. Now there’s progress.

REI to Open in Puck Building Next Fall

Yesterday morning, The Real Deal brought blockbuster news that REI will be opening a tremendous outpost in the landmarked Puck Building at the southeast corner of East Houston and Lafayette.  The sporting goods store recently inked the deal with Kushner Companies, which owns the property, and plans to open in fall 2011.

Skullphone returns to the downtown environs with this two-by-four wheat-paste just outside the Puck Building on Lafayette Street.  Just in time for Halloween.  Spooky, scary!
