FADER Fort Performance Space at 38 Delancey for CMJ

Later today and tomorrow, the long-vacant ground level of 38 Delancey will be transformed into the FADER Fort, a temporary performance space by Fader Magazine for the CMJ music festival. The lesson, as seen time and time again – when in doubt, go pop-up.

38 Delancey Removes Last of the Plywood

The last of the rotten plywood was finally removed from the 38 Delancey development over the holiday weekend. All that remained up until that juncture was the fence which blocked the incredibly spacious foyer.  Indeed, the Forsyth Street entrance has high ceilings and plenty of lego light fixtures.

Jia-De Energy Saving Kitchen Equipment Opening at 50 Delancey

In August 2009, the Sahiwal Deli surprised everyone by opening at 50 Delancey, mere steps from the new 38 Delancey condoplex.  Now a year on, the other half of the storefront is accounted for, and has again defied the odds. More commercial supply business is here.

Newish luxury condoplex 38 Delancey appears to be in a rough patch.  The building entrance is trapped behind plywood and shows no signs of opening, and the ginormous ground level space remains just that.  An empty void.  At least the building is collecting ad dollars on the fancy window-wrapping promotions (now HSBC, was Verizon).

This brutal heat and humidity is even too much for the mysterious Man in White, a/k/a Jimmy Blanco.  We spotted him walking along Delancey the other night, sporting a new summer getup.

38 Delancey Advertising Verizon Droid

Some high-tech interactive advertising is now afoot inside the ground level of 38 Delancey, which explains the new touch-screen. The windows are skinned with posters showing app logos and the lame-o slogan of submission (“droid does apps”). No sign of tenants just yet.
