Is it just us or is Lower East Side change occurring at a most freakish pace these days? The old is being razed while the new raises property values and costs of living.

It’s 10:30 pm on recent a Monday night, and Hester Street is a brisk ghost town. A few can collectors tear open trash bags at curbside, scrounging for a day’s pay; another dude is poking through the contents of his trunk.

Violet & Daisy Film Scouting Hester Street

Lately, it seems as though filming scouts have a collective hard-on for lower Orchard Street, near Hester.  A new Keanu Reeves feature dubbed generation Um was interested in this corner of the neighborhood last month, and now we bring word that another production is currently snooping around.
