Kung Fu Bing Closed for Restructuring

Just shy of a few months at 189 East Houston, Kung Fu Bing is now closed for renovations.  According to a pair of signs in the glass doors, the closure is only temporary for some necessary “restructuring.”

Now that Kung Fu Bing is safe and sound at 189 East Houston, we can re-focus our attention on its former Division Street digs.  Gone are the yellowing Chinese newspapers and DIY “for rent” signs.  Over the holiday weekend, fresh orange signage was installed, revealing the latest cornershop occupant. Hold the phone!  Kung Fu Bing has not given up on the Lower East Side just yet. Merely a couple months after shuttering its eight-month-old location at 79 Division Street, the hokie eatery is poised to reopen at 189 East Houston, former home of Ashkara.

With a surefire name like Kung Fu Bing, and a kitchy panda mascot to boot, we figured the fast food franchise would last longer than just eight months.  Especially given their delusions of grandeur about opening eighteen more outposts citywide.  As it happens, the Chinatown location at 79 Division Street recently shuttered.
