R Bar closed for good two weeks ago amidst news that a new operator is seizing the space. As reported last week, the new restaurant entity is dubbed Rebelle. In a way, the budget Bowery House banks on its second-floor SRO tenants for that “authentic” factor to push its product. A living form of “authentrification,” if you will.
