Cafe Grumpy moved the kitchen equipment from its sidecar annex at 13 Essex Street last week. The space that once housed an on-premise bakery is apparently now a destination for pop-ups. Next Sunday, il Laboratorio del Gelato will open its tremendous new space at 188 Ludlow, the ground-level retail space of luxury rental complex The Ludlow. Yesterday afternoon, we treated ourselves to two scoops of premium gelato and were greeted with a formal announcement of the Orchard Street farewell.
