Le Cubain at 81 Ludlow recently updated its image. The dark-green marquee has been painted over, and will likely be replaced by the new name sometime soon – Sebastian LC. Not much personality there. Menus are also updated.

Casanis is now serving again, a few days earlier than expected. We passed by yesterday evening and saw a few couples dining inside. Still no store signage, though, just the forest green. UPDATE: A commenter informs us that Casanis is kaput, and that it’s re-christened Le Cubain, a French-Cuban combo joint.

The renovation of Casanis at 81 Ludlow Street (corner of Broome) is continuing at a clip. Broome Street bistro Casanis is currently undergoing renovations. Pinned to the menu box out front is a sign that reads, “The restaurant will be closed until August 5. We apologize for any inconvenience. See you again soon.” Despite all the visible work in the last week, such announcements often spell the beginning of the end. […]
