Transformation of 118 East First Street is Complete

The exterior transformation of 118 East First Street from punk to bunk is now complete. Its fate was sealed last week when the entire facade was whitewashed, forever hiding the fingerprint of Body & Soul Tattoo. For awhile there, the kickass branding fit well alongside the Nice Guy Eddie’s Kiss mural.

Chico’s Los Capitanes mural on East Houston near Avenue B recently became an outlet for grief.  A totally organic public forum to share thoughts.  Not too long ago, a boy named Danny passed away and a shrine was dedicated here.

Chico’s John Lennon Mural Erased

This wound cuts pretty deep. In the wake of Mark David Chapman’s recent parole hearing postponement, coincidentally, Chico’s John Lennon mural at 9 Avenue B has vanished.  Definitely one of the best pieces in his vast body of work. Instead, we are now left with drab brown paint.
