It seems every six months or so, the city tabloids decide to write an all-encompassing article about the changing Bowery.

Based on census figures, it appears that the last decade was defined by a sharp influx of whites into the borough.

And the demolition continues on Grand Street. As of yesterday evening, a sizable chunk of number 283 is gone. The facade is now just a skeleton. In the meantime, families displaced by the fire are upset by the recent relocation from Skyline Hotel on 49th Street.

Last week, the gaudy black-and-yellow Sprint awning was stripped from the facade of 101 Delancey (at the corner of Ludlow). Lo and behold, a spectacular ghost sign is now clearly visible! Even though the ornate lettering has worn with time, it appears to advertise an establishment called Jay-Mor Hats.
