Last night, the transportation subcommittee of Community Board 3 unanimously approved the co-naming of Elizabeth between Canal and Bayard.

Monday afternoon, a few short weeks after the first suspect came away with a judicial slap on the wrist, Specialist Ryan Offutt pleaded guilty to maltreatment and hazing in connection with Chen’s death.

Thanks in part to the grassroots efforts gone national, like last week’s vigil for transparency and the actions of local politicians, justice is finally being served.

The New York chapter of the Organization of Chinese Americans, a nonprofit civil rights organization for justice, is mobilizing later this week on behalf of Private Danny Chen.
