It could not have been a more perfect inaugural day for the Hester Street Fair at Seward Park. Saturday welcomed the open-air market with mild temperatures, bright sunshine, and deep crowds. The overall aura was definitely more flea than boutique, and seemed to be a recipe for success.

The Hester Street Fair starts today in Seward Park (corner of Essex and Hester) from 10 am to 6 pm. If you can’t make it, rest assured, as the open-air market will run Saturdays and Sundays through December.

Grub Street is reporting that a new Hester Street Fair is coming to the empty dead-end park space at Essex Street. It will be a seasonal flea market of sorts, running between the hours of 10 am and 6 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

Nearly three months after Hairy Mary’s Vintage vacated 149 Orchard Street, another trendy tenant is preparing to move into the space. Currently a vendor in the Williamsburg flea market scene, menswear boutique Any Old Iron is slated to open sometime next month.
