Nick Walker Update at Thunder Jackson’s

Frat-hole Thunder Jackson’s in Greenwich Village just erased two-thirds of the artwork on its Sullivan Street facade.  Last week, two-and-a-half years after the umbrella-man stencils first appeared, out came the paint rollers and gray paint.  Only one of the distinct “vandal” branded figures survived the makeover, and it’s conveniently protected by a security gate.

The dreaded block of MacDougal Street between Bleecker and West Third is about to welcome a new Vietnamese eatery to its ranks. Get ready for Saigon, a new sandwich shop slated to open at the former Esperanto Cafe within four to six weeks.

Pubblico Espresso Bar Now Open at 124 MacDougal

Pubblico Espresso Bar (nay, Pvbblico) quietly announced itself at 124 MacDougal Street back in mid-March with a pair of subtle computer printouts.  In the ensuing months, however, the signs were removed from the windows. Yet the sheets of brown paper remained intact.  Until now.

3 Sheets Saloon is just a couple days from opening at 134 West Third Street.  The new Philly-friendly watering hole replaces Town Tavern, and is the seventh member in the NYC Best Bars roster.

Town Tavern on West 3rd Under New Management

The perennial Greenwich Village frat-dive, Town Tavern, is now under new management.  Yellow signs in the windows announce this fact, as does the brown paper obscuring shots of the interior.

Suzie’s Restaurant Closed for Renovations

Longtime Greenwich Village favorite Suzie’s Restaurant at 163 Bleecker Street is currently under the knife.  The 38-year-old Chinese eatery will remain closed for a two-week period of renovations.  Work on the interior began yesterday and should last until the end of May.
