The trade was inevitable, and most certainly lopsided; necessity is being exchanged for luxury at 55 East Houston. In this case, a bodega for high-end denim.

55 East Houston is the subject of some angry neighborhood sentiments against the perpetual cycle of upscaling. To put it bluntly, people are friggin’ pissed.
