As Ramadan concludes, we bring news that the Lower East Side will soon have a brand new masjid to call its own. At 172 Eldridge Street.

The beleaguered Assafa Islamic Center at 172 Eldridge Street is apparently back on track after a series of derailments.

Ever since a pair of steel supports was installed back in October, it has been all quiet on the Eldridge mosque front.  The worksite at 172 Eldridge was quiet through autumn and winter.  But now spring is finally here, and with it renewed construction efforts.
