Pulino’s Sidewalk Dining to Crowd Bowery and Houston

Posted May 14, 2010 at 6:11 am

Along with EV Grieve, we’ve certainly been keeping tabs on the sidewalk dining situation at Pulino’s Bar and Pizzeria.  Since the joint opened, tables situated in the Bowery-facing window-doors merely flirted with the concrete, but barely crossed the threshold.  That is no longer the case.

In which Nate Appleman was spotted taking a break from his kitchen inside Pulino’s Bar and Pizzeria.  He was on his cell, pacing back and forth as hordes of people scurried past during the evening rush.

Another Look Inside Pulino’s Bar and Pizzeria

Posted March 1, 2010 at 6:11 am

The piecemeal reveal of Pulino’s Bar and Pizzeria continues.  Although the nearly two-year-old sidewalk shed was finally removed from 282-284 Bowery a couple weeks ago, plastic tarps remained in place to block any clear view of the interior.  Even this close to opening, the foreman appears to be running a tight ship, so as not […]

Last modified February 18, 2010 at 9:57 am

The after-hours work continues at 282-284 Bowery, new home of Pulino’s Bar and Pizzeria.  Indeed, a day after snagging a quick glimpse of the brick-and-tile interior, away comes the plywood. We passed the construction site last night and were met with an almost-unfettered view of the Bowery exterior.  This morning it’s nearly all clear.

Sneak Peek Inside Pulino’s Bar and Pizzeria

Posted February 17, 2010 at 6:12 am

Behind the bill-laden sidewalk shed of 282-284 Bowery, Pulino’s Bar and Pizzeria is racing toward the finish line.  The lights were on well into the evening hours.  Peering through one unobstructed window, there is finally some semblance of what’s in store.  And it’s all about tile, brick, and cast-iron doors.

Don’t […]

Pulino’s Tagged by Neck Face

Last modified June 11, 2012 at 9:40 pm

If there’s a relatively blank facade downtown, chances are, Neck Face has tagged it in some way or another.  Now he’s struck again, this time hitting the spiffy new brick exterior at the future Pulino’s Bar and Pizzeria at 282-284 Bowery.  Above the plywood, his artwork features a blue-and-white claw reaching out from the neighboring […]

Will Pulino’s Live Up to the Hype? We issue a challenge

Last modified June 11, 2012 at 9:42 pm

Since our interior progress report on Pulino’s Bar and Pizzeria back in August, we’ve seen lots of people coming to Bowery Boogie looking for details. That whole Iron Chef show with Nate Appleman didn’t hurt, but we think it’s safe to say that there’s astronomical interest in this joint. Our question is, will Pulino’s really […]

Pulino’s Bar and Pizzeria Progress Report

Last modified June 11, 2012 at 9:41 pm

Buzz surrounding the under-construction Pulino’s Bar and Pizzeria is at a fever pitch, thanks in part to the appearance of Nate Appleman on The Next Iron Chef (he’s still contending).  As a result, scoring a money shot of the interior proved elusive for quite awhile; the foreman is definitely running a tighter ship now.  Each […]
