Roughly forty-eight hours after strong winds violently revealed the ghost of Vicmarr Electronics’ past on Delancey, there is now a fresh canopy in place. Yesterday afternoon, a pair of workers on ladders installed the new store signage for Schames Paint Supply, which is relocating north from its perennial Essex Street HQ.

Yesterday morning, a pair of electricians were painting walk signals, traffic lights, and the poles from which the hang. The cherry picker was extended in the intersection of Delancey and Forsyth Streets.

If a certain sidewalk stencil is any indication, the end is now the trend on East Houston. Literally. Casanis is now serving again, a few days earlier than expected. We passed by yesterday evening and saw a few couples dining inside. Still no store signage, though, just the forest green. UPDATE: A commenter informs us that Casanis is kaput, and that it’s re-christened Le Cubain, a French-Cuban combo joint.

The renovation of Casanis at 81 Ludlow Street (corner of Broome) is continuing at a clip.
