Just the other day, this mustachioed man gracefully sat in the western quadrant of Washington Square Park, a flock of pigeons perched about his body. The image was definitely akin to the crazy old pigeon lady in Home Alone 2.

A discarded sandwich in the eastbound intersection of Essex and Delancey nearly spelled disaster for a flock of pigeons. The birds literally escaped a bloodbath by mere inches. But the moment traffic was stopped at the red light again, they were back on the road, fighting for the prize.

An escalation in the ever-growing urban battle against pigeon-feeding or simply another advertising gimmick? Given the ambiguous nature of the signage, we are leaning toward the latter. The clever “wanted” poster is taped to an electrical box on the southeast corner of Bowery and Rivington.
