Blockbuster Video on East Houston is closing. It had been a rumor for the last few years, but finally confirmed at the end of January. Its neighbor just met the same fate.

Red Square retail will probably see some significant turnover in the coming months.  One need only spy the giant JDF Realty leasing banner strung across the strip mall (i.e. Blockbuster) at the base of the luxury rental building.  According to the signage, multiple stores are for rent, totaling up to 10,000 square-feet of usable space. The unofficial neighborhood time-keeper forgot to wind its watch, so to speak.  Red Square at 250 East Houston has yet to adjust its out-of-sequence rooftop clock back to Standard Time. A City Is is a cool book of New York City-centric poems geared toward young children. Written by Norman Rosten and illustrated by Melanie Hope Greenberg, the pages feature cartoonified depictions of various neighborhoods and landmarks.
