Our love of city snowstorms is equally countered by the inevitable nuisance of the street melt (not a sandwich). Maneuvering past snow bulkheads and corner puddles is definitely a strategy in itself. Especially since many of these cold slush pools tend to be deceptively deep.

If you’re strolling along the west side of Orchard Street, near the corner of Stanton, watch your head. The sign post there is close to collapsing on the sidewalk. Of course, the ice and slushy mess don’t help either.

Stationed beneath the scaffolding at the corner of Norfolk and Delancey is a pushcart slushy business operated by an older gentleman wearing a khaki hat.
