Last week, the Chrystie Street road sign at Delancey was in danger of crashing down. Now it’s gone.

Doyers Street Still Buried Under Snow

By yesterday afternoon, snow plows had pretty much reached the main traffic arteries of the Lower East Side. While still slick, Allen, Bowery, Delancey, and East Houston were mostly cleared.  But those so-called “tertiary roads” remain in terrible shape.  Just ask Mayor Mike, who completely mismanaged the cleanup effort. This sign dangling above the intersection of Chrystie Street and Delancey is an accident (ergo, lawsuit) waiting to happen.  It was completely at the mercy of the wind all day yesterday, thanks to frequent gusts in excess of 50 mph.
