Starbucks might be on a tear of late, what with its East Village expansion plans and all. Yet further south, the sister location at 80 Delancey is struggling a bit.

The closure of The Bean is not the first time that Starbucks has struck at this corner of the East Village.

Yesterday afternoon, two individuals were spotted admiring (nay, imitating) the mural of womanhood on the Allen Street facade of Starbucks. The Starbucks at 80 Delancey dumps all its trash around the corner, on the Allen Street facade of its building. Awhile back, a black garbage chute or sorts was installed to hide the mess a bit. Guess that wasn’t enough space for their waste.

The other day, we happened upon this NYCRS real estate listing [pdf] for 355 Grand Street, at the southwest corner of Essex. From the look of it, Flowers Cafe, the quaint pop culture-themed coffee shop located inside the ground level, is up for sale. Asking price is $375,000 in key money.

Gothamist has a list of the 600 Starbucks locations to be shut down. Midtown is the most affected. Unfortunately, the Allen and Delancey location will remain in operation.
