Plumes of Steam are Billowing from Henry Street [PHOTOS]

Henry Street is just blowing off some steam. The corner of Henry and Clinton Streets is enveloped in a thick plume of steam. Firefighters called to the scene are cordoning the area surrounding the billowing manhole. Apparently a water main broke which led to the steam situation. Water is flooding the street. Stanton Street Steam

This manhole in the Allen Street Mall at Stanton Street seems like it will blow.  The pressure sounds pretty intense.  And of course, there’s plenty of steam. Looking east on Stanton Street, near the corner of Allen.

Steam rising from makeshift chimneys and sewer grates seem to channel the urban grittiness of yesteryear. This chimney adjacent to the Allen Street Mall at Houston.
