It was like walking into an old black-and-white photograph. A game of stickball on the street – outside Rutgers Houses – with the Manhattan Bridge in the background. A fleeting moment of old school Lower East Side. The Saturday afternoon block party was a NYCHA event complete with cookout, music, and tables of advertising.
