Yesterday’s late-fall snowstorm (aka “Snowvember”) had trees falling around the Lower East Side. Over on Norfolk Street, the weight of the wet snow-pack toppled several large limbs at around 5pm, smashing into parked cars and blocking southbound traffic below Stanton Street. (Video below.) Clinton Street just lost one of its mature trees. Last week, a truck driver (with a Bud Light trailer) collided with a tree on the east side between Rivington and Stanton, blocking the road with fallen foliage. It handily snapped the trunk.

More beautification for Orchard Street this week. Flatbed trucks were spotted delivering iron tree guards to the sidewalks of Orchard Street this week. East River Park and its sister down on Corlears Hook took quite the beating from Hurricane Sandy. The thicket of trees in both coastal spots suffered considerable casualties.
